hi Allison I have enjoyed reading your blog I.have bought in buenos aires previously, paintings ,that appear to originate in cusco. The pictures seemed very european in style, but typical of the religious work seen In your blog.I am planning a trip soon to Peru could you recommend the better or more appropriate schools to visit.in Cusco or abouts
Do the religious statues also originate in this area?Any recommendation?

I would love it if you could give me the names of 2 of the paintings that you photographed at the Gemäldegalerie. One has Mary and Elizabeth with the unborn babies showing. The other has the unborn Christ with the cross in mid-air at the Annunciation. Also do you have the website for the museum that houses these paintings.

When you look at my websites you will understand why I am interested. I have collected this type of artwork (downloading and scanning) and already have over 50 statues and paintings of this type. Yours were really beautiful and your photography was great!

Sorry for the delay! The painting with the two unborn babies is from the workshop of Konrad Witz, The Counsel of Redemption, 1444. And the one with the mid-air cross toting babe is from the workshop of Rogier van der Weyden, Emperor Augustus and the Tirbutine Sybil (recto) and the Archangel of the Annunciation (verso), 1460/1470. Here is the website for the Gemaldegalerie.

Thanks for reading. Glad you like the photos! Sorry again for my slow response!
